Create unconventional, crazy, and eye-catching gamer tags that intimidate opponents on game leaderboards.
The crazy styles are three techniques. Zalgo attaches combining diacritical marks (accents, tildes, underdots from U+0300 to U+036F) to each letter, and a renderer stacks them; the light version uses one mark per letter, the extreme version four. Upside-down substitutes look-alike letters from the phonetic alphabet (ɐ, ǝ, ʇ) and reverses the order. Mirrored simply reverses. The alphabet spoofs (Greek, Cyrillic, currency) swap in letters from other scripts that resemble Latin ones. All of it is ordinary Unicode, so it pastes anywhere text goes; whether the destination lets it stay is a different question.
Discord display names and server nicknames accept all of it and clip stacked marks to the line, so zalgo looks dense rather than overflowing. Steam profile names accept it. Most mobile game name fields reject combining marks outright, PUBG Mobile and Free Fire will refuse a zalgo name, because their filters block anything outside a whitelist of blocks. Upside-down and spoofed names use ordinary letters from other scripts and usually pass those filters. The one universal warning: none of these is searchable or readable by a screen reader, so a crazy name is a display choice, not a handle people will find by typing.
Their name filters block combining marks. Zalgo is nothing but combining marks. Upside-down and spoofed-alphabet names use ordinary letters from other scripts and usually pass.
No. Modern Discord clips stacked marks to the line height, so extreme zalgo appears dense rather than climbing over other messages. It is allowed in display names and nicknames.
Not by typing it. The characters are not the plain letters. Treat it as a display name and keep a plain handle for anything people need to find.
