Filter by family before you scroll

The chips under the input box (Gaming, Bold, Script, Aesthetic, Boxed, Gothic, Effects) narrow 358 styles down to the twenty or so that share a mood, and the count on each chip tells you how many you are about to see. Script and gothic are where most "stylish" searches end up: script for bios and signatures, gothic (fraktur and blackletter) for clan tags and band-style handles. Bold is the safe choice when you need the text to read at small sizes, because the mathematical bold and sans-serif bold alphabets keep every letter's shape and only change its weight. Aesthetic covers fullwidth, small caps and the interleaved symbol styles.

Pairing a style with a frame

Frames and styles are independent controls, and some pairs work far better than others. Clan wings and the godlike brackets were designed around bold, upright letters, they look right on sans-serif bold and blackletter and cramped on script. Hearts and the glitter frame suit script and small caps. Lenticular brackets are neutral and work on anything, which is why they are the default in most Discord role names. Because the frame is applied on top of whatever style you pick, you can hold the frame steady and scroll the styles, or hold the style and switch frames, and compare live.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Script and Gothic filters?

Script is the two mathematical script alphabets. A heavier calligraphic one and a lighter copperplate one. Gothic is fraktur and bold fraktur, the blackletter forms. Both are single-character maps; neither uses a frame.

Can I search for a style by name?

Use the family chips to narrow, then scan. Each row shows the style's name in small caps on the right, so you can find, say, Bold Blackletter with the Gothic filter on in two or three rows.

Why do a few letters in Script look different from the rest?

Seven capitals and three lower-case letters of the script alphabet were encoded years earlier in a different block, so some fonts draw them in a slightly different weight. It is a property of Unicode, not of this tool.
